The magic has officially begun at St Aloysius College Theatre! After months of rehearsals, late-night design meetings, and countless creative sparks, Hocus Pocus: The Pantoween has finally hit the stage — and audiences are already spellbound. 💜

💫 A Magical Start
On Thursday 30th October, Hoi Polloi Theatre Company welcomed its first audience for our Charity Dress Rehearsals, giving a few lucky guests a sneak peek before opening night. The feedback has been nothing short of incredible — laughter echoing through the theatre, gasps at every twist, and applause that kept coming long after the curtain call.
“It’s pure joy from start to finish!” one guest said. “The humour, the music, the heart — it’s everything you want in a panto, with a Halloween twist!”
👑 Costumes, Colour & Character
From shimmering witch robes to over-the-top Dame glamour, the costumes designed by Sarah Grech are a spectacle of colour and imagination. Every wig (crafted by Michael & Guy) and every make-up detail (by Talitha Dimech) has helped create a world where magic feels real and mischief is never far away.
The Sanderson Sisters sparkle in every scene — with Katherine Brown, Lara Agius, and Talitha Dimech serving up a delicious mix of sass, slapstick, and spooky charm. And just when you think you’ve seen it all… in walks the Dame — Eric Grech, the unstoppable Mayor of Mayhem herself — to steal the scene (and a few hearts).
🎃 Humour, Heart & Spooktacular Fun

Under Marco A. Calleja’s direction, the show is packed with clever panto wordplay, hilarious surprises, and just enough fright to keep everyone on their toes. It’s family-friendly fun with a message at its core — about hope, courage, and the power of sticking together when things get dark.
And with musical arrangements by Christine Vella, vocal direction by Nathalie Pace, and choreography by Warren Bonello, every number bursts with life — catchy tunes, big laughs, and a few moments that will make your spine tingle in the best way possible.
🕯️ Magic & Mayhem Await
But what truly makes Hocus Pocus: The Pantoween special are the surprises — the unexpected twists, the visual effects, and the moments that make you whisper, “How did they do that?” From flying cues to enchanted spells, it’s a visual treat that captures the imagination of both children and adults alike.
This Pantoween isn’t about fear — it’s about fun, family, and the joy of theatre. It’s a reminder that magic can still be found when we come together to laugh, sing, and celebrate creativity.
